I haven’t been to Chester for a gig in about a decade, and tonight was the first time I’ve been to The Live Rooms.

It’s located literally 2 minutes walk from the train station – which is useful when you’ve got to catch the train back to Liverpool after the gig.  The 11pm train gets into Lime St at 11:45, but the next train, the 11:22pm gets in about 3am!

I got down there for doors opening, and the bands were still sound-checking so I thought I’d get myself a pint.  It’s a really decent venue.

First up were a Chester band called  The New Chapter at around 8pm.  By now, a decent sized crowd was starting to build up, and their rock tunes, including a cover of “Bohemian like you” went down well with the gathered crowd.

The Woodentops took to the stage around 9pm, and hit their stride from the start.  Performing a crowd pleasing career-spanning set, the crowd were loving it and Rolo is always a delight to watch.

A top night!
