Last year I took a trip to Birmingham for the Shiiine On all-dayer at the O2 and had a great time.  Even the bands I didn’t particularly like back in the day shone and won me over on the day!

What could be better than an all-dayer?  How about a 3 day weekend!

People often associate Butlins with a certain 1980s Sitcom set in the 50s, and think it’s going to be all nobbly knees competitions and donkey rides.  Fortunately hi-de-hi no more reflects today’s Butlins than the other Perry & Croft sitcom Are You Being Served? represents the likes of John Lewis!  I go into more detail in my review of the Great British Alternative Music Festival.

Before heading on to the official press release I’d just like to say, one of the bands who really impressed me in Birmingham, Ivory Wave are playing again this year and are well worth checking out – although they are a relatively new band, their sound is decidedly 90s!

Another band I’d strongly recommend checking out if you’re not familiar with them are The Woodentops
