I’ve never known a time where there was such an abundance of great music coming out.  Every other day I’m discovering a new band to get excited about (admittedly some have been around for a while and only just got on to my radar).

One such band are Oklahoma’s Skating Polly.  They formed in 2009 when the members were just 14 and 9 respectively, so I’m really playing catch-up, as I open the absolute treasure-chest of their back catalogue!

This is the audio for their new single “Flyer”

Loving this song, very Nirvana-esque

and this one is also superb

and another…

Their UK tour isn’t until October, which means we’ve got plenty of time to learn the words to all the songs 🙂 Here is the official info:

US punk rock trio Skating Polly have announced details of a new European tour kicking off this October, including a string of live dates across the UK.

Alongside the tour news the band have also shared a new single Flyer, the counter-part to track Play House which the band dropped at the start of the month Flyer sees siblings Kelli Mayo and Peyton Bighorse share vocal duties whilst Kurt Mayo drums, on a track that contrasts bright pop sensibilities with their characteristic boisterous and bold grunge tinged punk.

Commenting on the track, the band Kelli said: Flyer is about this overwhelming self consciousness and agoraphobia that’s been hitting me a lot lately. I was scared to leave the house, scared to see my friends, scared to make decisions of any kind. That led to writers block because I wouldn’t stick with any choices. So I made a deal with myself. “Play House” was gonna be a straight forward song structure with playful and abstract lyrics and “Flyer” would have a very abstract song structure and very personal sincere lyrics. Peyton wrote my favourite part of the whole song “I’ve had more than enough time to learn what I felt was not a thought crime”.
