Celebrating 35th anniversary of the multi-million selling “Friends” album,USA Soul legends Shalamar featuring Howard Hewett,Jeffrey Daniel and Carolyn Griffey are coming back to perform at their favourite Liverpool venue – The Philharmonic Concert Hall on Bank Holiday Monday 7th May and they’re bringing one of the UK’s rising Soul female Soul singers Natasha Watts along as their opening act!

“Friends” is the album that helped to cement their place in musical history. The album, released in 1982 featured four top twenty hit singles – “Friends”, “There It Is”“
I Can Make You Feel Good” and the iconic ‘“A Night To Remember”,’
This is your chance to relive the early 80’s when the band perform all the big hits from the album.
The album gained impetus from the legendary Top of the Pops performances by Jeffrey Daniel who demonstrated the first moonwalk on European TV screens. – Daniel being the man who taught Michael Jackson the ‘Moonwalk’!.
The watching British public were transfixed and BBC TOTP executives insisted that Jeffrey fly back specially to perform again 2 weeks later!

With over 25 million record sales under their belts, original members Howard Hewett & Jeffrey Daniel ,along with the newest member Carolyn Griffey drive audiences crazy with a dynamic blend of funky feel good music. A Shalamar concert is a celebration from start to finish!

Shalamar are regarded as one of the most influential soul bands of their time, injecting their unique style, energy and passion into sounds that have commanded dance floors the world over.

Dance floors around the world in early to mid 80’s belonged to Shalamar,classic songs such as “Take That To The Bank”, “The Second Time Around”, “Make That Move”, “I Owe You One”, “Dead Giveaway”, “Right In The Socket”, “Full Of Fire”, “Sweeter As The Days Go By”, “Over And Over” and “This Is For The Lover In You” were all massive dance floor and big chart hits.

In 2016 the band came 2nd to Stevie Wonder in the ‘Best Live Act’ Category in the Soul Survivors awards and in the last week they picked up the ‘Best Live Experience’ award in the 2017 Bright Star / Colourful FM awards.

Natasha Watts Having always credited her mother, Sandra as her inspiration and in 2008 the woman who moulded Natasha’s soul and direction passes away. Yet, through this distressing and heart-breaking period, comes the life-affirming ‘Time to Shine’, to this day, still Natasha’s favourite number due to the deeply personal resonance behind it.

Natasha exploded on to the UK soul scene with her explosive voice with ‘Show Me’ after her first collaboration with Cool Million – featured on the Cool Million III album, which was rapidly followed up with the summer smash of 2012 ‘Back 2 U’ with producer Ric Atari – available on the Soul Seed Vol 1 album, supported with a sleek promo to match the silky tones.

The last few years have seen Natasha in demand more than ever for her vocal talents and vivacious on-stage presence and many well-respected producers have elicited her formidable talents as well as various fellow contemporary songwriters and bands from Papa Records, Reel People, Bugz in the attic’s Kaidi Tathum, Speedometer on Freestyle Records, various tracks on Purple Music Nervous Records, Vaga Records Tribe Music Duff Note Groove Odessy Barcoda and most recently as the main vocalist on a forthcoming Yam Who? EP (Downtown Diva)  on the cutting edge record label ISM Records.

In September 2013… Natasha was nominated for The best new soul act Soul Survivors magazine… Natasha won by a clear mile.This was voted for by the public and is a clear indication of how much she is loved! This was to be the starting point for all of Natasha’s dreams to start coming true!
